近年來一些大型的PARTY中，VJ這名詞經常可見，但這裡指的VJ並非大家熟知的音樂頻道主持人，VJ指的是 Visual Jockey(影像騎師)，簡單來說，就是負責提供Party影像的人，DJ提供音樂；VJ提供影像。如Fatboy Slim的Brighton Beach現場邀請MV導演Tim Fleming擔任VJ；Underworld與Tomato的合作等等，都顯示出未來Party的新趨勢---音樂與視覺的結合。VJ的做法就如同DJ 的概念一般，將影像、動畫等視覺元素作現場即興的剪接，並添加效果，利用各種設備和技術手段,使畫面和音樂同步進行,達到視覺和聽覺的統一。在未來的幾年裡，VJ 將會越來越受到矚目！
歐美VJ文化的發展
只看這幾年的大型PARTY DISCO CLUB，幾乎無不出現VJ的蹤跡，甚至跨界到傳統歌手演唱會，而且多位百大DJ們，也開始始嘗試與VJ合作發行DVD，就可以知道VJ在歐美蓬勃的盛況了。如Underworld與Tomato的合作的 Everything, Everything 現場實況；Ninja Tune旗下DJ的專輯多附上影像創作，以及電音大廠Moonshine的AV:X系列等等。另外著名的英國當代視覺影像展[ onedotzero ]，這一兩年也專注在VJ領域的探討。
亞洲VJ文化發展
相比較歐美，亞洲的VJ發展更是不落人後，甚至是影響VJ文化發展的關鍵之一。影像王國的日本，這幾年研發了許許多多的VJ軟件，幾乎已成為VJ 的標准工具。其中參與研發的視覺團體也因此聲名大噪，受邀到各國演出。今年glamoove與日本知名製作人DJ Mondo Grosso合作，制作了一張以VJ為概念的DVD。
