EFD是無縫集成於主流CAD軟件中的通用CFD分析軟件，EFD分析：包括CAD模型建立、自動網格劃分、邊界施加、求解和後處理等都完全在CAD軟件界面下完成。
整個過程快速高效，EFD直接應用CAD實體模型，自動判定流體區域，自動進行網格劃分，無需對流體區域再建模。在做CAD結構優化分析時，先對一個CAD模型進行一次EFD分析定義，同類結構（裝配）的CAD模型只需克隆前一個的所有定義（包含網格），馬上可以進行EFD計算。
EFD基於當今主流CFD軟件都廣泛采用的有限體積法開發，它比其它基於有限元法開發的CFD軟件更適合於做流體分析。傳統CFD軟件與CAD模型獨立，需要導CAD模型到傳統的CFD軟件中，再通過求幾何切割或者布爾等操作建立流動區域，再進行網格劃分、邊界條件設定、參數設置等復雜步驟，計算時間長，改變幾何模型相當於重新開始進行前面的過程，對使用者要求非常高。

Engineering Fluid Dynamics EFD is a new breed of Computational Fluid
Dynamics CFD software. This fluid dynamics simulation software enables
