奧地利交通事故再現軟件pc-crash事故分析的過程主要是根據事故現場的采集、記錄、調查與分析，將事故涉案車輛由碰撞後的終止位置反推回碰撞過程，再反推回碰撞前的運行狀態，來分析事故原因，然後根據有關法律規定進行責任認定。目前，我國在事故分析及責任認定上仍處於人工的分析判斷階段，這種方式顯然含有極大的人為因素，近年來發展起來的事故重建技術，為事故分析提供了科學的手段。
事故重建主要根據交通事故現場特征，如碰撞後車輛位移、損壞程度、拖痕長度、路面情況等，運用力學動量守恆與能量守恆的基本理論，對事故發生過程進行推理與驗證。動量守恆理論以碰撞前的動量與碰撞後的動量總和相等為依據，根據車輛行駛方向與碰撞後的相關位置，來判斷事故前、後的車速變化及碰撞角度並完成參數檢測。能量守恆則以事故發生後車輛位移、損壞程度、碰撞角度等因素為依據，運用碰撞力學理論，來研究動能與位能的變化，從而推導出碰撞前、後車速和碰撞角度。重建工作就是將實際案例資料或實驗資料，通過統計回歸分析預測、事故現場模擬及碰撞軌跡分析等方法，來研究事故發生前、後車輛速度運行軌跡，最後將運算的結果或模擬的運行以屏幕顯示或打印的形式輸出，具體說明事故發生過程.
