國際遊戲發行商JoWood Productions本周一正式對外發表了《哥特王朝3》系列首個資料片——《哥特王朝3遺棄之神(Gothic 3: Forsaken Gods)》。該公司介紹，這款承接《哥特王朝3》和《哥特王朝4創世紀(Gothic 4: Genesis)》兩代遊戲的資料片，將於今年第四季度上市。
JoWood公司在官方新聞稿中稱，《哥特王朝3遺棄之神》將解答許多懸而未決的問題，並爲四代遊戲進行鋪墊。在這款資料片中，玩家將再度扮演無名英雄的角色，並一肩承擔拯救整個哥特世界的重任。值得注意的是，三代作品中衆多知名角色將再度出場，但他們卻不一定能夠維持與玩家建立的友情。
JoWood公司透露，目前開發團隊正在評估玩家反饋意見的基礎上開發這款新作。但該公司並未透露資料片開發方的細節。目前，Spellbound Entertainment公司正在開發《哥特王朝4創世紀》。而不久之前，JoWood Productions與之前反目的Piranha Bytes/ Pluto 13GmbH宣布“重修舊好”，並暗示將再之後聯手開發全新遊戲産品。
