當然，它也可以接受IGES、SAT、DWG、DXF、VDA、Parasolid和ACIS等格式的模型文件。EdgeCAM不僅可以直接讀取這些CAD格式的模型文件，更可貴的是保留了實體模型所有的特征參數，加載到CAM環境後，實體模型的特征不但不丟失，而且可以進行自動的查找和分類。
EdgeCAM對實體模型數據的這種無與倫比的兼容性得益於與眾多CAD軟件供應商之間的通力協作，是第一個與CAD軟件供應商開展戰略合作的CAM軟件公司。最有說服力的是利用EdgeCAM針對實體模型文件進行編程並生成刀具路徑之後，生成的刀具路徑還可以與原有的CAD環境實現動態關聯，即一旦實體模型在CAD環境下被修改，在EdgeCAM中的刀具路徑也可以根據修改後的模型自動更新。此功能更進一步的說明了EdgeCAM真正地做到了對實體模型文件的無縫兼容。
