Pathfinder 是由美國Thunderhead engineering公司開發的一個基於人員進出和運動的模擬器。它提供了圖形用戶界面的模擬設計和執行，以及三維可視化工具的分析結果。該運動的環境是一個完整的三維三角網格設計，以配合實際層面的建設模式。可以計算每個乘員獨立運動並給予了一套獨特的參數（最高速度，出口的選擇，等等)。Pathfinder可以導入FDS模型，FDS在模擬火災的同時，可以在相同時間內模擬人員疏散。同步跟蹤不僅可以科學地分析出人員疏散的相關數據。這樣既直觀，又有可靠的數據，還可以分析出人員疏散的最佳時間，減少人員傷亡。

Pathfinder的人員運動模式包括SFPE模式和steering模式。SFPE行為是最基本的行為，以流量為基礎的選擇意味著人員會自動轉移到最近的出口。人員不會相互影響，但是列隊將符合SFPE假設。這種模式是基於SFPE消防手冊保護工程和SFPE工程指南:人類行為，利用空間密度，以確定運動速度。steering模式使用路徑規劃，指導機制，碰撞處理相結合控制人員運動。如果人員之間的距離和最近點的路徑超過某一閥值，可以再生新的路徑，以適應新的形勢。
