MapSource是所有 GARMIN GPS定位資料處理與顯示的軟體工具，而TOPO U.S. 2008則是為服務美國地區的使用者，特別包含三個部份及功能：資料處理工具軟體、電子地圖資訊檔及GPS接收機備份圖檔。
資料處理工具軟體：
可以讓您先在電腦上自行編輯航點及航線等，之後再下載到GPS產品上。
可以將GPS接收機上所儲存的航點、航線、航跡等資料，上載至電腦內做
資料儲存管理，或轉換成其他資料格式做應用。
可以讀取及顯示所搭配的地圖資訊檔，並迭合航點、航線、航跡等資料，
讓使用者輕易比對定位的成果。也可以將地圖資訊下載至部份具有地圖顯
示功能的GARMIN GPS接收機內。
可以即時（Real Time）連結GARMIN GPS接收機，將接收機的定位資訊，
立即在電腦上顯示，讓本軟體變成一個實用的航跡記錄軟體。
