Crews are again trying to cap the oil leak in the Gulf of Mexico with a containment1 box, and they’re hoping that a new design’s going to help. Just take a look at what they’re up against, OK. BP has released these dramatic close-up pictures. It shows the larger of the two leaks that’s just spewing out thousands of barrels of oil into the Gulf every day.

BP’s trying the containment box idea again. This time, though, it’s got a smaller version of it called a top hat. The large one failed to stop the leak last week. That’s what you are seeing here. The top hat will actually let engineers pump in antifreeze. Now that will basically keep ice crystals from forming. That’s what happened before, and that’s the reason why it just didn’t work out.
英國石油公司再次嘗試圍堵箱的方法。不過，這一次的圍堵箱比較小，叫做「高帽」油罩。上週，比較大的圍堵箱未能成功遏阻漏油，結果就是各位看到的這個情形。高帽將可讓工程師注入抗凍劑，避免生成冰晶。先前就是發生了這樣的狀況，所以遏阻漏油的措施才沒有成功。
